Just before 4 p.m. in Atlanta, a gunman opened fire on three people that were inside of a car that was parked at the Windsor Apartment Complex.
According to police in the area, the gunman began to yell at a backseat passenger. It was during the altercation that the man pulled out a gun and began shooting.
In order to flee from the gunman, the driver stepped in the accelerator and sent the car flying into the apartment complex. The front see passenger and the driver were then injured in the accident.
All three people inside of the vehicle were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment and updates on their recovery have not been reported.
The Atlanta Braves pitcher, Tommy Hanson is now back in Spring training camp after suffering a concussion in a car accident.
According to officials, the accident occurred as Hanson was on his way to pitcher’s training in Kissimee, Florida. While driving to the Brave’s Disney World complex, his tire blew as he was attempting a left turn.
He then lost control of his car and it traveled into a grassy embankment before coming to a stop.
Hanson was tossed around while in the car and suffered a concussion and other serious bruises.
A 6-year-old student at the Eagle Ridge Academy is currently recovering in an Atlanta hospital after he was struck by a car in the school’s parking lot.
According to officials, the accident occurred when the kindergartener was walking with his mother in the parking lot when he bent down to tie his shoe.
The car’s drivers stated that they were unable to see the child when he bent down because he was too low to the ground. The boy was struck as the driver began to switch the parked car to drive.
The boy was struck on the right side and it caused him to fall toward the ground face first. The child was rushed to a local hospital, but was later transported to the Egleston Children’s Hospital for further treatment. It’s been reported that a personal injury lawyer was contacted.
The boy is now being treated for bruised lungs and is expected to make a full recovery. The driver has not yet been charged in the accident at this time.
A man was killed as the result of a motorcycle accident that occurred in Jackson County that occurred when the man lost control of the vehicle.
According to state patrol, the accident occurred just after 11 p.m. when the 28-year-old man was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle while traveling on the road and crashed.
It is unknown at this time why the driver lost control of the motorcycle and officials are continuing to investigate in order to see if speed or alcohol were causes. Police authorities have stated that the man died of head injuries sustained in the collision.
Eight people are recovering from the large car pileup that occurred on Interstate 75 in Florida and took the lives of 11 people.
Authorities in Florida are investigating at this time, but the heavy smoke and dense fog in the area from a nearby brush fire has been named the cause of the crash. The multiple collisions occurred because drivers were unable to see the cars in front of them.
Eighteen people were injured in the accident and eight remain hospitalized. One teenage girl, 15, is now in fair condition at Shands Hospital after most her family was killed in the collision.
Nearly one dozen cars and six tractor trailers were involved in the collision. Many of the vehicles burst into flames as a result and one tractor trailer was burned down to its skeleton.
Before the accident occurred, the road was closed because of the lack of visibility.
A bus crash in Warrenville has left 20 people injured after a school bus driver ran off the road while transporting 20 elementary students to school.
According to highway patrol in South Carolina, the accident occurred when the 61-year-old driver went off the side of the road and went into a ditch.
The bus driver was not injured in the collision, but 22 of the elementary students onboard were transported to the hospital. The coach has been charged with driving too fast for conditions.
The county transports over 10,600 children each day and operates more than 190 buses. There has not been an update on the condition of the children at this time.
A five-car accident in Dekalb County left one person in critical condition. According to officials, the accident occurred near Fernbank Museum on Ponce De Leon Avenue when the driver of a Nissan lost control of his vehicle.
Atlanta police stated that after the driver lost control of his car, he traveled over the center line of the road and struck a Dodge Caravan taxicab.
The driver of the Nissan was trapped in the car after the collision and had to be extricated by rescue crews.
It took crews an hour to free the man and he was immediately transported to Grady Memorial Hospital once he was freed. He suffered from head and internal injuries in the crash and remains in critical condition. The driver of the taxicab suffered a broken leg in the crash.
